Cella Monte. Lots of wine. Not many people.
It’s got about 500 people, a bunch of old houses, some very pretty hills, and probably more bottles of wine than inhabitants.
It’s also officially one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. And the surrounding vineyards are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Anyway, we thought it would be a nice place to get married.
What the hell is an Infernot?
Good question. We didn’t know either.
Basically, a few hundred years ago, some Italians decided that a normal wine cellar wasn’t good enough, so they started digging holes in the rocks underneath their houses.
By hand. For their wine.
These little underground caves are called Infernot, and they were used to store the good bottles. Apparently, they’re so special that UNESCO got involved.
Our venue has one too. And you can visit them
